DVDs and other work

Breaking Weather... continued

The first one, Breaking Weather, has been completed and we are now wanting to link four more images some of which are still 'work in progress' to make one work. The DVDs will accompany the limited editions as an extension of the art medium. Modern Art Galleries and International Film Festivals are now being approached.

I have now had planning permission confirmed to build a dedicated formal gallery and video space, this project has been made possible due to the support of HIE SKYE and WESTER ROSS. This additional space will give my clients and visitors the opportunity of seeing work in progress within the working studio through to the exhibition area.

The inspiration for the making of this film came from a friend's video recorder. He was recording the occasion of the opening of my art exhibition. After a general inclusion of guests and the overall interior he focussed on one of my landscape paintings and went to the point where the frame was obliterated and the sense was, he had entered the painting. The sense of being within this painting was so intense I knew I had to explore the concept further.

On discussion with my composer partner Alan Cleobury-Jones, I asked if he could interpret the changing moods of the imagery. The chosen painting had a great appeal for us both due to the wild variety of weather conditions, within a wild, Scottish west highland landscape. I had to appeal to a sympathetic television company HCVF Inverness, to understand what I was wanting. The company had never tackled anything of this nature before. An interesting voyage of discovery for us both! I have had the absolute pleasure of working with highly talented people in artistic fields I knew absolutely nothing about. Our thanks to Napier University for the use of their wonderful recording studio, and graduate Oliver Kass.
