ARTE television from Berlin

Posted on March 31, 2019

The picture here is one of my all time favourites. I am pictured with my great friend Shirley Spear OBE who has along with her husband Eddie created such an investment into their restaurant with rooms The Three Chimneys on the Isle of Skye. We have worked together closely over the years.

Examples of my work feature in the restaurant and The house over Bye. Stained glass panels I designed and made reflecting Shirley’s love of trees surround the entrance to reception were my paintings and reception desk, [which was one of my most challenging commissions ] great the arrival of guests.

I have included two photos from one of the days filming. I have to say Barkly affectionately called ‘Studio Dog’ was a complete star!

Script from Scott Ross

Friederike Schlumbom from German ARTE Television in Berlin, and #TeamThreeChimneysSkye are delighted to share that her portrait of #Skye life  across Europe, on German and French ARTE Television.

You can watch the film  from anywhere in the world by downloading the ARTE app, searching for Isles of the Queen: Skye, and selecting the English subtitles.

Her documentary is the most lavishly filmed account of Skye, its Makers and People produced for many years.
It interweaves the stories of gin distiller brothers Alistair and Thomas Wilson, landscape artist Diana Mackie, chef Scott Davies, restaurateur Shirley Spear, weavers Andrea and Roger Holden, Skyeskyners Pete Winterbourne and Becky Hanley, Dunvegan Castle custodian Jeroen Roskam, swordsmith Rob Miller, Skye ghillie Mitchell Partridge, farmer Allan Macpherson, ferrymen brothers Colin and Donnie Macdonald from Glenelg and traditional Scottish hard shoe dancer Sophie Stevenson.

One strand of the film follows Diana creating a new painting from inspiration to completion, which now hangs in the lobby of The Three Chimneys House Over-By for all of our local and international guests to enjoy.
